"Connecting People to Jesus and to Each Other"
ABC’s of Salvation
Admit to God that you are a sinner. Repent, turn away from your sin and turn to God.
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23)
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23)
By God’s perfect standard we are guilty of sin and therefore subject to the punishment for sin, which is separation from God. Admitting that you are a sinner and separated from God is the first step of repentance, which is turning from sin and self and turning toward God.
Believe that Jesus Christ is God's Son and accept God's gift of forgiveness from sin.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)
"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8)
God offers us Salvation. Although we have done nothing to deserve His love and salvation, God provided salvation for all who would repent of their sins and believe in Jesus.
Confess (and acknowledge) your faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
"That if you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved." (Romans 10:9-10)
"For, Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved" (Romans 10:13)
Confess with your mouth your faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and acknowledge it to others.
Salvation Prayer
Here is a sample prayer if you can't find the words. All you have to do is Admit, Believe, and Confess.
Dear God, I know I have sinned and that my sin separates me from You. I am sorry for my sin. Please forgive me. I believe that Jesus died on the cross for me so that my sin could be forgiven. I believe that Jesus rose from the dead and is alive today and offers me eternal life. I ask You right now to allow Jesus to come into my life to be my Savior and Lord. I will obey and live for You the rest of my life. Thank You for loving and saving me from my sin. Amen.
Now what do you do? If you’ve accepted Christ as your Savior, you may be wondering what do I do now. First you need to let someone know. Tell your pastor or a Christian friend about your decision. If you don't have a church home we would be happy to welcome you into God’s God's Family at North Baptist Church. Second you need to follow the Lord in Believer's Baptism. Being baptized is the first step of obedience and it proclaims to the world that you are a follower of Jesus Christ.
